Comparison with other structural steel tubes

 

Carbon structural steel Pipe (GB/8162-2008)

 

This kind of structural steel pipe is generally smelting by converter or open furnace, its main raw material is molten iron and scrap steel, steel sulfur, phosphorus content is higher than high quality carbon structural steel pipe, general sulfur 0.050%, phosphorus 0.045%. The content of other alloy elements brought into the steel by raw materials, such as chromium, nickel and copper, generally does not exceed 0.30%. According to the requirements of composition and performance, the grades of steel tubes of this kind of structure are represented by steel grades Q195, Q215A, B, Q235A, B, C, D, Q255A, B, Q275, etc.

 

Note :"Q" is the Chinese Pinyin uppercase prefix of the yielding character "Qu", and the numbers after it are the minimum yield point (σs) value of the grade. The symbols after it are divided into four parts: A, B, C and D according to the content of impurity elements (sulfur and phosphorus) in the steel from high to low, along with the change of carbon and manganese elements.

 

This kind of structural steel pipe has the largest output and is widely used. It is mainly rolled into sheet metal, profile (round, square, flat, pipe, groove, Angle, etc.) and profile, as well as welding steel pipe. Mainly used in buildings, Bridges, ships and other building structures and general fluid transport pipe. This kind of steel is usually used directly without heat treatment.

 

Low alloy High Strength Structural Steel Pipe (GB/T8162-2008)

 

In addition to a certain amount of silicon or manganese elements, these steel tubes also contain other elements suitable for Chinese resources. Such as vanadium (V), niobium (Nb), titanium (Ti), aluminum (Al), molybdenum (Mo), nitrogen (N), and rare earth (RE) and other trace elements. According to the chemical composition and performance requirements, its grade by Q295A, B, Q345A, B, C, D, E, Q390A, B, C, D, E, Q420A, B, C, D, E, Q460C, D, E and other steel class, its meaning is the same as carbon structure steel pipe.

 

V, Nb, Ti, Al and other refined grain trace elements, in such structural steel tubes in addition to A, B steel, the C, D, E steel should contain at least one of them; In order to improve the performance of steel, A, B grade steel can also be added to one of them. In addition, the residual elements of Cr, Ni and Cu in this kind of steel are not more than 0.30%. Q345A, B, C, D and E are the representative grades of this type of steel, of which grade A and B steel is usually called 16Mn; More than one trace element should be added to the steel pipe with C-grade structure, and one item of low temperature impact performance should be added to its mechanical properties.

 

The ratio of such structural steel tubes to carbon structural steels. It has the advantages of high strength, good comprehensive performance, long service life, wide application range and economy. The steel is widely used in Bridges, ships, boilers, vehicles and important building structures.
