3. Surface Finish Options


CHS steel tubes are available with different surface finishes to match the installation environment, corrosion requirements, and fabrication process.

Hot-Dip Galvanized Outdoor structures, bridges, fencing, coastal or corrosive environments
Pre-Galvanized Light construction, commercial buildings, general engineering
Painted / Coated Projects requiring additional appearance or temporary corrosion protection


Black steel is usually the most economical option when corrosion protection is not required or when the tube will be painted after fabrication.

Hot-dip galvanized CHS is generally recommended for outdoor structures where long-term corrosion resistance is required.

Pre-galvanized steel is suitable for light-duty applications where moderate corrosion protection is sufficient while maintaining a cleaner surface finish.

If the project specification already defines the coating system, the surface finish should always follow the engineering requirements.
