LSAW pipe dimensions include outside diameter, wall thickness, and length. The following chart provides an overview of common LSAW pipe sizes and dimensional specifications.
LSAW pipe dimensions vary by outside diameter and wall thickness. Theoretical mass per metre and per foot for line pipe from 16" to 64", dimensioned on ASME B36.10M outside diameters. Rows carrying a schedule designation use the wall thickness published in that standard; rows marked “—” are wall thicknesses outside the schedule system that mills roll to order under API 5L.

NPS (Nominal Pipe Size) is a standardized designation used to identify a pipe, but it does not equal the actual outside diameter. For example, an NPS 16 LSAW pipe has a nominal size of 16 inches and an outside diameter of 406.4 mm (16 inches).
Wall thickness (WT) describes the thickness of the pipe wall. It may be listed directly in millimeters or inches, such as 9.53 mm (0.375 in), or identified by a standard designation.
Schedule numbers, STD (Standard Weight), and XS (Extra Strong) are different wall thickness designations. Where the chart lists a numerical thickness without a designation, that value specifies the wall thickness directly. Do not assume it corresponds to a particular Schedule, STD, or XS classification unless confirmed against the applicable dimensional standard.
Theoretical pipe weight can be estimated from the outside diameter and wall thickness using the formula:
Weight (kg/m) = 0.02466 × WT × (OD − WT)
where OD and WT are in millimeters. For other pipe dimensions, use our Steel Pipe Weight Calculator to calculate the theoretical weight per meter.
Eastern Steel supplies LSAW steel pipes in the following size ranges:
| Parameter | Available Range |
|---|---|
| Outside Diameter (OD) | 406–1,626 mm (16–64 in) |
| Wall Thickness (WT) | 6–75 mm |
| Length | 3–12.5 m |
Q1. Are all LSAW pipe sizes in the chart available from Eastern Steel?
No. Eastern Steel supplies LSAW pipes in OD 406–1,626 mm, WT 6–75 mm, and lengths of 3–12.5 m. Confirm availability for specific size combinations before ordering.
Q2. Does the theoretical pipe weight equal the actual delivery weight?
No. Actual weight may vary due to dimensional tolerances. Theoretical weight is intended for estimation.
Q3. What standard is used for the LSAW pipe dimensions in this chart?
The chart uses ASME B36.10M outside diameters and corresponding wall thicknesses where applicable. Verify the dimensional basis of entries without a Schedule designation before publication.
Q4. Why are some wall thicknesses listed without a Schedule designation?
These entries specify wall thickness directly in millimeters or inches. A missing Schedule designation does not indicate a specific standard or grade.
