Seamless Carbon Steel Pipe and Tube Options
Carbon steel tubing and pipe products are available in several grade options to suit your application requirements. Our most popular grade is ASTM A500 carbon steel tubing. ASTM A500 is a standard specification for cold-formed welded and seamless carbon steel structural tubing in round, square and rectangular shapes. A500 is the most common specification in North America for Hollow Structural Sections (HSS).

Carbon Steel Tube and Pipe Advantages
Seamless carbon steel pipe and tube products are revered for their many distinct benefits, delivering unprecedented results for high-level applications. Carbon steel shapes all have high cross-sectional stiffness due to their second moment of area.

Differentiating Steel Tube & Pipe
Even though they sound the same, steel pipe and tube products are distinctly different and offer their own respective features and benefits. Some of the key differentiating factors that separate steel tube and pipe include the following:
1.Tube is round, square, or rectangular.
2.Steel tube is often used for smaller diameters where tight tolerances are needed, while steel pipe is well suited for large applications.
3.Due to the manufacturing process, steel pipe is more cost-effective than steel tube since they require less processing and inspection.
4.Tube is calculated by outside (OD) diameter and wall thickness; pipe is calculated by their nominal pipe size (NPS) and schedule (wall thickness).
5.Pipe is round and is used to distribute fluids and gases.

Carbon Steel Tube and Pipe Properties and Composition
As the carbon content rises, steel can become harder and stronger through heat treatment, making it less ductile. In carbon steels, a higher carbon content reduces weldability and lowers the melting point.

Steel is commonly considered carbon steel when no minimum content is specified for any alloying element (for example, aluminum, chromium, nickel, molybdenum, vanadium, etc.) or any other element added to obtain a desired alloy effect. The manganese does not exceed 1.65%, the specified minimum for copper is not below .40% or exceed .60%, and silicon does not exceed .60%.
