Spiral submerged arc welding method

Date:2024-03-25View:101Tags:welded pipe,Seam pipe,SSAW steel pipe

Spiral seam submerged arc welded steel pipe is a kind of steel pipe widely used in petroleum, chemical industry, natural gas and other fields. Its welding method is of great significance to ensure the quality and reliability of steel pipes. This article will introduce the welding method of spiral seam submerged arc welded steel pipe.

Spiral submerged arc

Welding equipment

Welding spiral submerged arc welded steel pipes requires the use of professional welding equipment, including welding power sources, wire feeders, traveling mechanisms, etc. Among them, the welding power source is the core equipment, which can provide stable welding current and voltage to ensure welding quality.

Welding process

1. Preparation stage

Before starting welding, the steel pipe needs to be cleaned and polished to remove impurities such as oil, rust, and scale on the surface of the steel pipe to ensure welding quality.

2. Assembly stage

Assemble the two sections of steel pipe to be welded, ensuring that the gap between them is even and the welds are aligned.

3. Welding stage

The assembled steel pipe is fixed on the running mechanism and then welded using submerged arc welding. The following points need to be noted when welding:

(1) Control of welding current and voltage: The welding current and voltage need to be adjusted according to the material and thickness of the steel pipe. Generally speaking, the welding current should not be too high, otherwise it will cause the weld to burn through or undercut; and the voltage should not be too low, otherwise it will cause the weld to not be fused or have pores.

(2) Control of welding speed: The welding speed needs to remain stable and should not be too fast or too slow. Too fast a welding speed will cause the weld to fail to fuse or have pores; while a too slow welding speed will cause the weld to burn through or undercut.

(3) Control of welding wire position: The position of welding wire needs to be accurately controlled to ensure the quality of the weld. If the position of the welding wire is incorrect, defects such as pores or slag inclusions will appear in the weld.

After the welding is completed, the steel pipe needs to be inspected for quality, including appearance inspection, non-destructive inspection, etc. If defects are found, they need to be repaired or re-welded.

The welding method of spiral submerged arc welded steel pipes is of great significance to ensure the quality and reliability of steel pipes. During the welding process, attention needs to be paid to controlling the welding current, voltage and speed, as well as accurately controlling the position of the welding wire. At the same time, quality inspection is required after completion of welding to ensure the quality and reliability of the steel pipe.
