Selection of heat exchanger tube

The choice of heat exchanger tube: stainless steel seamless tube or stainless steel welded tube is better?

Speaking of heat exchanger tubes, I believe everyone is familiar with it. It is a device that can quickly transfer heat from one point to another, and it has almost no heat loss. Therefore, it is called a heat transfer superconductor and has a high Thermal conductivity and good isothermal properties, so it is usually used in heat exchangerrs as one of the components of the heat exchangerr. The commonly used materials for heat exchanger tubes are carbon steel, low alloy steel, stainless steel, copper, copper-nickel alloy, aluminum alloy, titanium, etc., in addition, there are some non-metallic materials, such as graphite, ceramics, polytetrafluoroethylene, etc., so When designing heat exchanger tubes, you should choose appropriate materials according to the working pressure, temperature and corrosiveness of the medium.

The more commonly used heat exchanger tubes on the market are stainless steel tubes, and stainless steel tubes can be divided into stainless steel seamless tubes and stainless steel welded tubes.

So, What are the differences between seamless heat exchanger tubes and welded heat exchanger tubes?

Stainless steel seamless pipes and stainless steel welded pipes belong to stainless steel pipes, but there is a difference between them. The difference between stainless steel seamless pipe and stainless steel welded pipe is mainly reflected in the following aspects:

1. Appearance comparison

① The seamless steel pipe is drawn in technology and has no welds.

2. Process comparison

①Stainless steel seamless pipe is a long strip of steel with a hollow section and no joints on the periphery. The thicker the wall thickness of the product, the more economical and practical it is; the thinner the wall thickness, its processing cost will rise substantially. The process of this product determines its limited performance. Generally, seamless steel pipes have low precision. This is because of uneven wall thickness, low brightness on the inside and outside of the pipe, high cost of sizing, and there are pits on the inside and outside, and black spots are not easy to remove. In addition, , Its detection and shaping require offline processing. Therefore, the stainless steel seamless pipe reflects its superiority in terms of high pressure, high strength, and mechanical structure materials.

② Welded steel pipe is abbreviated as welded pipe, which is a steel pipe made by welding common steel or steel strip after crimping and forming by unit and die. With the rapid development of excellent strip continuous rolling production and the advancement of welding and inspection technology, its production process has become much simpler, production efficiency has also become higher, the quality of welds has continued to improve, and the variety and specifications of welded steel pipes have increased. In more and more fields, especially in heat exchanger backup pipes, decorative pipes, medium and low pressure fluid pipes, etc., seamless steel pipes are replaced. However, everyone should pay attention to that the strength of welded steel pipes is generally lower than seamless steel pipes.
