Seamless steel pipe has a hollow cross-section and is widely used as a pipeline for conveying fluids, such as oil, natural gas, coal gas, water and some solid materials. Compared with solid steel such as round steel, steel pipe is lighter in weight under the same bending and torsional strength. It is an economical cross-section steel and is widely used in the manufacture of structural parts and mechanical parts, such as oil drill pipes, automobile transmission shafts, bicycles, etc.
Spiral steel pipe is a spiral seam steel pipe made of strip steel coil as raw material, extruded at room temperature, and welded by automatic double-wire double-sided submerged arc welding process. The spiral steel pipe feeds the strip steel into the welding pipe unit, and after multiple roller rolling, the strip steel gradually rolls up to form a round tube blank with an open gap. The pressing amount of the extrusion roller is adjusted to control the weld gap to 1~3mm, and the two ends of the weld are flush.
Spiral pipes are made by cold bending, flattening, forming, automatic double-sided submerged arc welding, water pressure testing and other manufacturing processes of steel strips. The production process of seamless steel pipes is much more complicated, and it needs to go through many complex process flows, including perforation, hot rolling, cold drawing, quenching, etc. The cumbersomeness of these processes makes the production cost of seamless steel pipes higher, and the price is correspondingly increased.
Although both spiral pipes and seamless steel pipes can meet high quality standards, their quality is different due to their different production processes. Some highly demanding industries, such as petrochemicals, electric power and other fields, have very high requirements for pipeline materials and are relatively strict in terms of quality. At this time, seamless steel pipes are used more and the price is correspondingly higher. Some ordinary industries, such as construction, machinery and other fields, have relatively low requirements for pipeline materials. At this time, spiral pipes will be used more and their prices will be relatively cheaper.
The production technology of spiral pipes is relatively mature and the production efficiency is relatively high, so the relative supply is larger. The production process of seamless steel pipes is relatively complex and the production efficiency is relatively low, so the relative supply is small. Due to different market demands, some industries require fewer types of steel pipes, and the price of seamless steel pipes will be relatively high at this time; while some industries require larger quantities, the price of spiral pipes will be relatively low.
The price of spiral pipes and seamless steel pipes is different, mainly due to factors such as production process, quality and market demand. When choosing steel pipe materials, it is necessary to comprehensively consider factors such as application areas, quality requirements and prices to select the most suitable material.
