How to Prevent Precision Tubes from Rusting

Date:2024-10-24View:290Tags:precision tubes, steel tubes, rusting, precision tubes rust

Precision tube is made of special materials, and after certain surface treatment, a protective film will be formed to prevent the tubes from rusting. However, if the protective film on the surface of the tube is damaged or worn during use, it will cause rust on the surface of the tube. So how to prevent precision tubes from rusting?

Avoid Contact with Dissimilar Metals

Stainless steel pipe fittings should avoid direct contact with other metals, as contact may cause rust. Especially before installation, ensure that there are no contaminants such as welding slag on the surface of the material to reduce the possibility of rust.

Chemical Protection

Use pickling paste or spray to assist in re-passivation of rusted parts to form a chromium oxide film to restore its corrosion resistance. After pickling, be sure to rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove all contaminants and acid residues. For localized minor rust spots, a mixture of gasoline and engine oil can be used to gently wipe.

Mechanical Cleaning Methods

Use mechanical methods such as sandblasting, glass or ceramic particle shot blasting, brushing and polishing. However, it should be noted that the contamination caused by previously removed materials, polishing materials or annihilation materials may be wiped off during mechanical cleaning. Therefore, mechanical cleaning should be carried out under dry conditions and ensure that the operation is standardized.

Storage Environment And Surface Treatment

Ensure that the storage environment is dry and well ventilated, and avoid humid and high temperature environments. Before storage, thoroughly clean the surface of the steel pipe to remove impurities such as dust and oil to keep the surface smooth. For precision steel pipes, anti-rust oil or anti-rust agent can be applied after cleaning to increase its anti-rust ability.

Storage Method

Choose a suitable storage method according to the length and shape of the steel pipe. Upright storage is suitable for short steel pipes, which can save space but pay attention to support stability; flat storage is suitable for long steel pipes, which has good stability but needs to be careful to avoid mutual squeezing and deformation. Use supports and pads to keep them at a certain distance from the ground to ensure ventilation and prevent moisture.

Regular Inspection And Maintenance

Regularly check the stored steel pipes to check whether the anti-rust layer is intact and whether there are signs of rust. If rust is found, rust removal should be carried out in time and anti-rust agent should be reapplied.

Summary

In short, when we encounter the problem of rust on precision tubes, we can deal with it by using passivators, grinding and polishing or replacing tubes. In daily use, we should also pay attention to the maintenance and protection of pipelines to avoid or reduce the occurrence of rust problems on precision tubes.
