Pipeline casing pipe spacers, also known as casing spacer or simply casing pipe spacers, as a sealing element, is placed between two planes. It is an accessory used in pipeline systems to strengthen the seal to prevent fluid leakage. It is mainly used to support and fix the pipeline to ensure that the delivery pipe is properly centered in the casing pipe. It is usually used between static sealing surfaces to prevent pressure, corrosion, and leakage caused by the natural thermal expansion and contraction of the pipeline. This pipe spacers can be made of different materials, such as paper, rubber sheet or copper sheet, and the specific choice depends on the application requirements and environmental conditions.
The functions of casing pipe sealing spacers are:
1. Prevent leakage: The casing interface is the main place for liquid and gas leakage. The use of sealing casing pipe spacers can effectively prevent leakage and ensure the normal operation of the pipeline, which is especially important in harsh environments such as high temperature, high pressure, and corrosive conditions.
2. Relieve vibration: The casing pipe sealing spacers can relieve the noise and vibration caused by pipeline vibration, reduce the risk of pipeline swing and rupture, and thus extend the service life of the pipeline.
3. Enhanced connection strength: Sealing spacers can also increase the connection strength at the pipeline interface, prevent the pipeline interface from being disconnected due to external forces, and make the pipeline connection more secure.
4. When a pipeline intersects with a railroad right of way, a highway, a waterway, or any other channel, the pipeline is usually passed under or buried under the obstacle. To protect these areas, the delivery pipe is placed in a casing to "double contain" the fluid passing through the delivery pipe. If a leak or rupture occurs, the fluid will be directed to a safe distance away from under the channel. In fact, many local government agencies require this procedure to be performed almost everywhere when volatile or hazardous fluids flow through the delivery pipe.
5. Casing pipe spacers/isolators are used to electrically isolate the delivery pipe from the casing pipe. In most cases, a corrosion mitigation plan is implemented to protect the delivery pipe from the harmful effects of the environment and surrounding soil. The influence of any external stray electrons will cause the corrosion mitigation to be completely ineffective. Casing spacers/isolators ensure that there is no metal-to-metal contact between the delivery pipe and the casing pipe, thereby ensuring the integrity of the corrosion mitigation plan.
6.Casing pipe spacers contain low coefficient of friction slides on all surfaces that contact the casing pipe, which facilitates easy insertion of the carrier pipe into the casing pipe, which is especially important when long distance pulls/pushes are being made with heavy pipe. PSI slides have a tensile strength of 17,600psi, a flexural strength of 25,300psi, and a compressive strength of 18,000psi.
