The difference between precision tube and seamless tube

Date:2022-02-10View:2769Tags:precision tube vs seamless tube, precision tube, seamless tube
Precision steel tube has five characteristics:
1. The outer diameter is smaller.
2. High precision, can do small batch production.
3. The cold drawn finished product has high precision and good surface quality.
4. The cross-sectional area of the steel pipe is more complicated.

5. The performance of the steel pipe is superior, and the metal is relatively dense.

Seamless pipe has five characteristics:
1. The absence of welds makes the internal geometry and dimensional accuracy extremely high.
2. The surface of the seamless pipe is relatively smooth and flat, without common defects such as bulges, depressions or cracks at the weld.
3. Seamless pipes can obtain higher tensile strength, yield strength and toughness.
4. Wide range of material applicability, a variety of different materials can be selected to manufacture seamless pipes.
5. Seamless pipes can be processed into parts of various shapes and sizes through cutting, welding, bending and other processing processes.

The difference between precision tube and seamless pipe:

Due to the advantages of no oxide layer on the inner and outer walls of the precision tube, no leakage under high pressure, high precision, high finish, no deformation during cold bending, flaring, flattening without cracks, etc., it is mainly used to produce pneumatic or hydraulic components. Products, such as air cylinders or oil cylinders , It can be seamless pipe or welded pipe.

The main feature of seamless pipes is that they have no welded seams and can withstand greater pressure. The product can be very rough as-cast or cold-drawn, and the precision steel pipe mainly has strict tolerance and roughness of inner hole and outer wall size.

1. Different manufacturing processes
The manufacturing processes of precision tubes and seamless steel tubes are different. Seamless steel tubes are manufactured through cold drawing, cold rolling, hot rolling and other processing processes, which can ensure the hardness indicators and mechanical properties such as the smoothness and roughness of the inner and outer walls of the steel tube. The manufacturing process of precision tubes is relatively more complicated, mainly including cold drawing, cold rolling, hot rolling, hot extrusion and other processes. The manufactured steel tubes have higher precision, and strict requirements are imposed on surface smoothness, dimensional accuracy, wall thickness uniformity, mechanical properties and other aspects.

2. Different material selection
The material selection of seamless steel tubes and precision tubes is also different. Seamless steel tubes are mostly used in hydraulic condensers, hydraulic systems, automotive parts and other occasions, and there are many types of materials, including carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, copper tubes, etc.; while precision tubes have a narrower application range, mainly used in the field of high-precision machinery manufacturing, or as materials for gas bearings, hydraulic cylinders, automotive bearings and other parts, generally carbon steel and alloy steel.

3. Different usage scenarios
Due to differences in manufacturing processes and materials, seamless steel tubes and precision tubes are also suitable for different occasions. Seamless steel pipes can be used in some general mechanical equipment and processes; while precision pipes are widely used in high-precision fields such as precision machinery, optical instruments, electronic equipment, gauges, observation mirrors, audio equipment, hydraulics and pneumatics.

In summary, there are significant differences between seamless pipes and precision tubes in terms of manufacturing process, physical properties and application areas. Seamless pipes are widely used in the fields of conveying fluids and bearing pressure due to their excellent pressure resistance and corrosion resistance as well as low manufacturing costs; while precision tubes show unique advantages in the manufacture of high-precision parts with their high precision, high quality and excellent mechanical properties. In practical applications, we need to select the appropriate type of pipe according to specific needs and working conditions to ensure the quality and reliability of the project.
