Various Diversity of OCTG pipe

Octg pipes are diverse in many aspects, such as type, size, material, etc.


Type




OCTG pipe includes a variety of pipes such as tubing, casing pipe , drill pipe, etc., each of which has its specific purpose and function.


1. Tubing:Used to transport oil, gas or water from the oil well to the ground; usually with a smaller outer diameter and wall thickness to adapt to the inside of the oil well.


2. Casing:Used to support the well wall, prevent collapse, and isolate different formations; there are various sizes and strength grades to adapt to different well depths and formation conditions.


3. Drill pipe:Used to connect drilling equipment and drill bits, transmit rotational force and drilling pressure; usually high-strength seamless steel pipes that can withstand high torque and pressure.


Size


OCTG pipes have a variety of outer diameters and wall thicknesses to adapt to different well depths, pressures and load conditions, and can meet various oil and gas well production conditions from shallow to deep, from low pressure to high pressure, and from mild to extreme. 


1. Length options: OCTG pipes are available in a variety of standard lengths, such as 12 meters or less, as well as non-standard lengths that can be customized to meet specific project requirements.


2. Special sizes: In addition to standard sizes, OCTG pipes can also be customized to meet the requirements of specific application scenarios.


3. Maximum outer diameter: As a type of OCTG pipe, the maximum diameter of the casing can reach 26 inches, which shows the diversity and adaptability of OCTG pipes in size.


4. Production pipe outer diameter: In some cases, the outer diameter of the production pipe can reach up to 7 3/4 inches, and other sizes can be provided upon request for the mother pipe of couplings, x-overs and other accessories.


Material


OCTG pipes can be made of different materials, including carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, nickel-based alloys, etc., to meet different performance requirements such as corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and high pressure resistance.


Connection method

Surface treatment

Special purpose pipe

3. Expansion casing: can be expanded on site to adapt to wellbore changes, used to repair or transform oil wells.


4. Coiled pipe: long coiled pipe, no coupling connection required, used for cleaning tubing, sand flushing and other operations.


5. Flexible tubing: used for deep water or complex well structure, with good flexibility and pressure resistance.


6. Drill collar: heavier than ordinary drill pipe, used to increase drilling pressure or guide drill bit.


7. Guide: used to keep the casing centered and ensure that cement can evenly fill the annular space between the casing and the well wall.


8. Special purpose pipes: such as special pipes used for acidizing, fracturing or other production stimulation measures.


9. High alloy steel or stainless steel pipes: used in highly corrosive environments or high temperature and high pressure wells.


10 Coated pipes: The surface is coated with anti-corrosion, wear-resistant or heat-insulating materials to extend the service life.


Special performance pipes


In order to meet the use requirements in specific environments, OCTG pipes can have special properties, such as resistance to hydrogen sulfide corrosion, resistance to carbon dioxide corrosion, high temperature and high pressure resistance, etc.
