How is seamless black steel pipe different from other steel pipes?

Date:2022-10-12View:420Tags:seamless black steel pipe

Steel pipes are produced by two different methods that end up in welded or seamless pipes. In both methods, crude steel is first cast into a more workable starting form. It is then made into pipes by stretching the steel into seamless tubes or pressing the edges together and sealing them with welds. The first methods of producing steel pipes were introduced in the early 1800s, and they have steadily evolved into today's modern processes.

Characteristics of carbon steel pipe

The amount of carbon contained in steel determines its properties. Steel is considered carbon steel when chromium, cobalt, niobium, molybdenum, nickel, titanium, tungsten, vanadium or zirconium, or any other element added to obtain the desired alloying effect, is not specified or required; when copper is specified as a minimum When the value does not exceed 0.4%; or when the specified maximum content of any of the following elements does not exceed the stated percentage: Manganese 1.65%, Silicon 0.6%, Copper 0.6%. Most of the steel produced globally is in the carbon steel category.

(1) According to the final use, it can be divided into carbon structural steel, carbon tool steel and free cutting steel; carbon structural steel is divided into engineering construction structural steel and mechanical manufacturing steel;

(2) According to the smelting method, it can be divided into open hearth steel and converter steel;

(3) According to the deoxidation method, it can be divided into boiling steel (F), killed steel (Z), semi-killed steel (b), and extra-killed steel (TZ);

(4) According to the carbon content, it is divided into ultra-high carbon steel (1.00-2.00%); high carbon steel (0.60 0.99%); medium carbon steel (0.30 0.59%); low carbon steel (0.16 0.29%); mild steel (0.05 0.15%);

(5) From the quality of steel, it is divided into ordinary carbon steel (phosphorus, sulfur, high), high-quality carbon steel (phosphorus, sulfur, low), high-quality steel (phosphorus, sulfur, low) and ultra-high-quality steel.

Application of carbon steel pipe

Carbon steel pipe is the earliest and most widely used basic material in modern industry. While trying to increase the output of high-strength low-alloy steel and alloy steel, the world's industrial countries also attach great importance to improving the quality of carbon steel pipes and expanding the variety and scope of use. Carbon steel pipe production accounts for about 80% of the country's total steel production. It is not only widely used in construction, bridges, railways, vehicles, ships and various machinery manufacturing industries, but also in modern petrochemical industry, marine development and other fields.
